a very zombie weekend.

I managed to bum another ride to Provo, Utah this weekend, and I wish I didn't have to come back (although I do love Rexburg). We started off the weekend with a super beautiful nature walk up near Sundance:

Just wish I came a couple of weeks earlier when the leaves were burning with color. This place was magical nonetheless though.

We weren't very inspired to dress up for the weekend, until we found ourselves at a thrift store shopping our hearts away for oversized floral dresses and sweaters to tear up and add blood. The new television show, The Walking Dead, got us way too excited to be zombies (which I'm starting to think they're becoming more popular than vampires...)

Before dancing our hearts out we stopped at a malt shop and had root beer floats and shakes, might I add, in our full zombie attire. Yeah, we got a few very strange stares which made the night that much better. We saw a local band play, danced a bit, exchanged scary stories, and had hot chocolate at the hospital because apparently that's a cool hangout place.

note to self: I'm back now in Rexburg now, and I must say I missed this teeny tiny town a little bit. Just finished watching The Walking Dead and it was fantastic. I loved this very zombie weekend. This week's agenda: sign up to donate plasma and job search!

jackson.

This outdoor program is almost over. Two more days, and Ill be back on campus. So many mixed emotions! I'm really psyched to experience "campus life" and makes lots of friends, but at the same time, this lodge is starting to feel like home and it's like everyone here is family. These past couple of weeks have been busy (like always)... but the last couple of days have probably been my favorite.

Im really going to miss this. Sunny days where we have two hours of class and the rest of the day to wander and relax in the fields. And Dakota, the scruffy dog who follows us everywhere (I'm still not sure where he sleeps or where he's from).

Occasionally I bring my laptop with me to do homework. I feel like I should take advantage of the land here and do everything outside before the weather gets crummy, right?

For the weekend we all drove to Jackson Hole, Wyoming to explore and swim at the local pool. This town was so awesome! This place reminded me of Park City Utah, but more cowboy-ish.

How sweet is this? An arch made from antlers.

Not sure why, but there were random statues of historic figures in Jackson. Not sure how we got the idea, but we decided to smooch Abe. Kicks and giggles, I guess haha.

We helped ourselves to a huge bag of candy at "Yippy-I-O" candy bar. I'm currently snacking on sour cherry gummies and the last few Jelly-Bellys from my bag.

note to self: I've never seen so much turquoise jewelry in my life! If only I had an extra 200 dollars to spend on a ring... I wish I could've spent more time in all the stores filled with fringe jackets and fur hats (which I am in current search of, but maybe something on the cheaper side), but I did manage to thrift a maxi dress for 5 dollars and buy a pair of blue boxers with bears on them that say "bearly tame" (for sleepwear). Not sure when I'll blog next, because Wednesday will be a busy move in day, including catching up on The Walking Dead and eating dinner with some friends from back home, classes Thursday, and a few friends and I are debating on going to Provo, Utah this weekend for some Halloween parties. But I'm happy ill be busy and I'm sure this change will be good!

discoveries.

This week's adventure: a three day camping trip. This was new for me. I've camped and hiked, but I've never camped and hiked. We went up Big Elk Creek (near Targhee National Forest?) and the weather was all over the place with blue skies, rain, thunder, hail, and more blue skies. Although at first I really wasn't appreciating the rain, I think it made the experience that much more fun.

somehow we fit six girls into a four person tent. yeah... let's just say I didn't get very much sleep.

The first night (before it started raining) we cooked pasta and quesadillas. I think when the weather started turning bad we decided to stick with granola bars and candy for the rest of the trip to avoid cooking.

Somehow I forgot to take pictures of the actual hike? It was so pretty i swear....

Next adventure- sleeping in this teepee:

And since fields are our favorite place to take pictures:
Are peace signs cool again yet?

Note to self: this hike might be my favorite thing we've done up at Badger Creek. While on the hike we were challenged to go into the woods or the river and meditate by ourselves. I'm finally discovering a few things about myself here that I might not have been able to realize if I wasn't surrounded by beautiful mountains and way too relaxing rivers. Complete peace, serenity and isolation.

october says hello.

Time is flying by ridiculously fast here. I went to Provo last weekend and visited my grandparents and brother and sister in law. So fun! It was just a really nice get away from that little lodge in Tetonia, Idaho:

(observe 80 degree weather here)

And what's the date again? October seventh. And I woke up to a foot of snow. this is how october says hello. Looks like this is how the weather will be until March!

I love winter. But I'm just not ready to say goodbye to flats and open toed shoes or the breezy days where I can wear a light sweater and feel good. This is Idaho I guess haha. Next week were going on a three day backpacking trip and it will most likely be snowing. eeek! Well see how that goes...
